Wood briquette machine refers to the equipment for making rectangular or hexagonal logs as fuel from biomass materials, such as sawdust, rice husk, bamboo, wood chips, etc. Materials for making briquettes are required to be <5mm in size and <12% moisture. So the accessory equipment, such as the wood crusher and sawdust dryer, is usually needed.

Two key factors affecting the sawdust briquetting

The moisture content of biomass materials has a great impact on the briquetting process and briquette quality.
When the moisture is too high, there will be a lot of steam generated during heating. Steam gathering together in the center hole of wood briquettes, it is easy to cause a crack in the briquettes.
Meanwhile, if the materials are too dry, it is also difficult to produce briquettes. Because the trace moisture can promote the lignin softening and plasticizing.
Find the optimal temperature for raw material briquetting
Briquetting temperature significantly impacts the production speed, density, and appearance of wood briquettes. Different raw materials require different optimal briquetting temperatures. Common raw materials typically range from 260 to 350 degrees Celsius, and multiple trial runs are necessary to determine the optimal temperature for each material.
Low temperatures fail to soften the lignin in the raw material, potentially blocking the molding cylinder and hindering briquette production. Excessive temperatures cause carbonization of the briquettes’ surface layer, making the material difficult to form. Even if carbonization occurs, the briquette density will be insufficient. Severe carbonization results in a carbonized layer forming on the inner wall of the molding cover, hindering briquette discharge.
Operating procedures of wood briquette machine
1. Confirm that the heating coil, forming cylinder, and screw propeller are properly installed. Ensure the screws on the forming cylinder are tightened, and the gaps are consistent.
2. Connect the power supply and perform a forward and reverse rotation test. Run each direction for approximately ten seconds. Observe the machine for any jamming or abnormal noises. The stop button must be pressed when switching between forward and reverse rotation.
3. Set the temperature. The initial temperature is generally set between 260 and 350 degrees Celsius. Find the optimal temperature by observing the appearance, color, and density of the briquettes.
4. Raw materials must be pre-crushed and dried. The material size should be less than 5mm, and the moisture content should be less than 12%.
5. Start the machine and feed materials only after the set temperature has been reached.
Cautions in producing wood briquettes
1. Before starting the machine, turn the belt pulley manually to see if it is blocked.
2. Tighten the bolts on the heating tube, especially the withstanding screws.
3. Before stopping the machine after continuous work, empty the hopper first, and run it in reverse for one minute, then the machine can be stopped.
4. When the screw propeller can’t rotate, stop the briquettes machine at once, run it in reverse, clear the material in the hopper, and raise the temperature again.
5. Briquettes discharging direction is better pointed to a wall, and a plank should be put in front of it against the wall.
6. When the wood briquettes machine is working, the person is forbidden to stand in front of the outlet.
7. The electric circuit should be kept dry and clean. Power must be turned off after stopping the machine.
8. Stone and iron chips are strictly forbidden from getting into the feeding hopper. As soon as any abnormal phenomenon appears, stop the machine at once.
9. All lubricating parts must be oiled every two months.
10. It is forbidden to start the machine without the machine being well grounded.
